10 Benefits Of Group Training Classes

If you are looking for a way to begin your fitness journey or need a change of pace from what you have been doing, group fitness classes offer numerous benefits. It is a great way to workout while also being a part of something more.

  1. Accountability - Finding motivation to workout on your own can be difficult. A group setting can provide accountability as your instructor and fellow class members will be expecting you to be there. You'll feel obligated to show up and put in more effort as you will want to compete and keep up with your fellow class members.

  2. Variety - Working out on your own can become boring and stale. You'll gravitate to the same exercises that you like and avoid the ones you don't. It is easy to get stuck in a rut of doing the same thing day over and over again. Group fitness classes will offer variety that keeps things fresh, your body guessing, and help avoid losing interest and stagnation.

  3. Goal Setting - You can set goals and being in a group environment can push you to that extra level that will help you get there. One easy, but most important goal, is to just show up and be consistent.

  4. Expert Knowledge - The instructor will design an effective workout and guide participants in exercise techniques to ensure safety and effectiveness. They can also answer any questions and change things up that you may personally need.

  5. Motivation - Working out with like-minded friends is much more enjoyable than by yourself. You have the benefit of motivating others while receiving motivation from them. This can push you to that next level that you normally would not reach training by yourself.

  6. Structured Environment - The classes follow a structured format (Warm-up, Strength, WOD, and Mobility), so you know what to expect and can focus on the task at hand. You know when class begins and ends, and can be sure that everything in between will be enough to get you results. The coach will keep class moving along with guiding you through the movements.

  7. Increased Efficiency - Get the most out of your time in the gym. In a group setting you will be more inclined to push yourself harder and make progress faster. There is no time allotted in class to scroll through your social media feeds or any other distractions.

  8. Fun - You can meet new people, make friends, be in a high energy environment with music, motivation from others, and let loose.

  9. Social Interaction - Provides social interaction, compared to working out alone with your headphones plugged in your ears. In a group setting you can talk, laugh, cheer each other compared to that awkwardness of asking someone if they are on a piece of equipment, but they have their earbuds in and don't hear you, so you have to ask again, then they see you and have to take out their earbuds so you can ask them a third time, to tell you that they are not on it and then put their earbuds back in, when all along you knew they weren't on it but just trying to be polite and have good gym etiquette.

  10. Cost-Effective - A group class membership can be cheaper than always paying a drop-in fee or paying for private personal sessions.

While many may feel that they need to "get in shape" before joining a group fitness class, LET THE CLASS GET YOU IN SHAPE!
