What is CrossFit?

-CrossFit is a lifestyle characterized by safe, effective exercise and sound nutrition. CrossFit can be used to accomplish any goal, from improved health to weight loss to better performance by performing constantly varied functional movements performed at a relatively high intensity leve. The program works for everyone — people who are just starting out and people who have trained for years.

What is HIIT?

-HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training. These workouts include movements to teach you to move well, build strength, and get your heart rate high for a short amount of time followed by periods of lower intensity or rest allowing your heart rate to come down again. This style of exercise is great for decreasing body fat, improving cardio-pulmonary function, improving muscle tone, and keeping your calories burning at a higher rate even after the workout is finished!”

What makes The Fort different from other gyms?

– You will immediately recognize what separates The Fort from other gyms upon walking into our facility. We have the largest functional training facility on the Gulf Coast–and we are the only climate controlled functional training facility in the region! …succeed in youth sports. Our group fitness classes for adults are designed to keep the best athletes challenged while providing scaling opportunities for beginners of all ages. Our programming for our classes is well thought out, effective progressive overload based training provided by coaches with decades of experience in strength and conditioning. Our Classes start as early as 5 am, continue throughout the day and end at 7:30 pm. And if those options don’t meet your scheduling needs, we offer a 24/7 Fitness Center that offers an array of cardio equipment, resistance machines, and free weights including bench racks and squat racks. Need to save time coming to or from home or work? No problem! We have shower facilities to assist you in making a quick transition so you can keep fitness a priority while keeping up with everyday life demands.

Is CrossFit safe for people 50 and older?

– Absolutely! Everyone has the same basic need to be able to squat, deadlift, press, and pull; we want to teach you how to do those everyday basic life necessities safely so you can continue to conquer your day without injuries or setbacks! All movements are scalable, so anyone can benefit from functional training. It is not uncommon to have a class of 14 athletes all performing the same movements at different weights and skill levels. Your coaches will ensure you are given a safe weight to use during each class.

Do I have to do CrossFit to be a member of The Fort?

-No. We have HIIT, Rookie and Youth Athletic Training, 24 hour gym access, as well as personal training options available.

What ages are included in your classes?

-We have options to serve athletes from 6 to 100 years old.

Youth Athletic Training- 11-17
