MEET THE STAFF
Eric has always had a heart and passion for fitness!
With 15 years of experience as a certified trainer, he has trained all age groups and skill levels from children to seniors. Eric holds certifications with NSCA, NESTA, and is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.
Those that influenced me…
Eric attributes much of his success from having the privilege of training under many distinguished fitness professionals throughout his career including but not limited to Coach Russ Polhemus, former track coach at the University of Tennessee and founder of Sports Medicine and Fitness Institute; Steve Cunningham, bodybuilding champion and owner of Synergy Health and Fitness; as well as strength coaches from Eric’s high school and collegiate athletic career.
“I have been fortunate to draw from experiences of esteemed and successful individuals and organizations in our industry. I believe continued education is a must to help our athletes and clients reach their goals in a fun, safe, and healthy environment that promotes success.”
It’s all about nutrition!
While attending medical school at The George Washington University School of Medicine, Eric studied the role of nutrition and its effects on the various metabolic systems in the human body. A high level of commitment and understanding in the role of nutrition planning is another key component that Eric teaches in order to help people achieve their optimum fitness level.
Some of my accomplishments
Eric’s personal fitness accomplishments include 4 body building championships, 3 state powerlifting championships, as well as setting school records for Olympic lifts at Hampden-Sydney College.
Crossfit Level 2 Certified Trainer, Crossfit Mobility Certified
Stephanie was born and raised in Fairhope, AL and was introduced to fitness at an early age by her father who got highly involved in Triathlons. As a child, she was always going to races with him and was involved in sports. However, her true love for fitness and nutrition developed when she was introduced to Crossfit in 2011.
Hesitant at first, she quickly grew to know that Crossfit was right for her and soon after, found herself stronger and healthier then she had ever been. After becoming a Level 1 Crossfit Trainer in 2011, she knew she wanted to help others reach their fitness and nutrition goals. She began coaching right away and has coached classes with beginners to more advanced athletes with ages 10 to 70 year olds. Even though she has a love for Crossfit, she truly believes that optimal health comes from the food an individual chooses to eat and the lifestyle they follow. This passion has led her to pursue her Bachelor’s in Nutrition and Health, as she is looking forward to graduating in the Fall of 2017.
Stephanie became a Level 2 Certified Crossfit Trainer in October 2016 and now that she is at TFX Crossfit she is looking forward to helping you find your fitness and nutrition goals!
Corey Henning has always been passionate about athletics and fitness.
He enjoyed a very successful high school career in football and baseball at Daphne High School. In college, Corey pursued his first passion of baseball as a catcher and pitcher at Bishop State. Through sports specific training, he developed a 96mph fastball and earned the role as closing pitcher.
After college athletics, Corey was looking for something different from the usual gym scene. He joined The Fort in 2015. While working out at The Fort, he couldn’t help but be impressed with the TFX CrossFit classes. He was driven to get better results from his workouts, and decided to try a CrossFit class. Then he was hooked!
After joining TFX Crossfit, Corey developed an interest in coaching, and obtained his CF-L1 trainer certificate. He now enjoys coaching youth classes, adult classes, personal training, and giving pitching and hitting lessons for baseball. He is also continuing to pursue his athletic career in CrossFit as he works hard every day chasing his dreams and aspirations of being a Regional Competitor.
In January of 2019 Cameron attended his CrossFit Level 1 seminar and received his CF-L1. He has since been coaching CrossFit classes at TFX CrossFit as well as being the primary trainer for The Fort’s Sculpt and H.I.I.T. classes. Cameron is most well known for the high energy that he brings to every class that he coaches.
He attained his CF-L1 in February of 2014 and began coaching. After a year and a half of coaching he attained his CF-L2 in 2015. He has since also become certified through the International Sports Sciences Association and coaches CrossFit classes as well as working with clients in a personal training setting.
With a decade of coaching experience under his belt, each week Maxwell takes the methodology to a variety of ages – teaching CrossFit to kids as young as 5 and adults in their 80’s! Maxwell is a stickler for technique. He especially enjoys working with beginners or anyone who feels intimidated by the “hardcore” workouts, as he hopes to show them exactly how CrossFit is designed to meet one where they are and push them to reach whatever goals they can imagine.
Dillan has always had a passion for fitness
And motivating others to constantly push their limits. His passion for weight lifting stemmed from athletic training around sports regimens as an adolescent and progressed as he pursued a BS/BA degree at the University of South Alabama. Dillan then began CrossFit at a local box where he developed a good foundation for the movements and methodology. Looking for a more competitive environment and advanced training program, Dillan approached TFX CrossFit at The Fort. After one drop-in he knew The Fort was the place for him!
Impressed by the caliber of athletes and motivating coaches,
Dillan began working harder on himself than he ever had before: training consistently, working on mobility, improving his gymnastics, paying attention to detail in his Olympic lifts, and dialing in his nutrition. Dillan soon found himself keeping up with and challenging some of the other coaches. The owner and head coach Eric Whitlow then approached Dillan about joining the staff.
If you drop in at The Fort,
You will find Dillan working hard and pushing athletes to their potential. One visit of training with Dillan and you will know that he loves what he does. He will tell you that CrossFit helped turn his life around and gave him something consistent to focus on—thereby further developing his discipline, drive, sense of commitment, and work ethic. He also stays busy giving private lessons for speed and agility with our youth athletes as well as personal training sessions. Besides his love for CrossFit Dillan also enjoys time spent with family, close friends and being outdoors.
